I600 filed today!

February 28, 2008

After a total re-do and a $65 fedex charge we received an email from our agency that said that our I600 was filed today. Woohoo! It is about time! The paperwork mix-up did push us back a week, but at least we know it is there safe and sound now. Phew!

Now we have to wait for the official receipt for the countdown to begin….

we just needed one coat

February 28, 2008

but we came home with three…. go figure!

All fabulous. All completely different. And we only ended up paying for one and a half of them. But that is another story for a different day. No, five fingers weren’t involved anywhere. Oh the adventures my mom and I have. They really should make a reality show about us! I am not sure anyone would watch, but WE would giggle!

happy valentines day

February 15, 2008

We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day this year. A few days ago I received an invitation to celebrate the afternoon and evening with a secret admirerer…

Today, I was ready at the appointed time and was whisked away by my fabulous husband who actually rang the doorbell to get me. How cute is that? I had no idea what our plans were. He ended up taking me to go see the movie Juno, which I had been dying to see…

and then to an perfect dinner at a cozy little restaurant just outside of town. The restaurant is actually in a very old church that was built in 1888. The food was soooo amazing!!! We both had lobster stuffed fillet that that was heaven….

The church part was significant because on Valentines Day twelve years earlier we spent our first Valentine’s Day in another church. My art was in a show in a different very old church downtown and the opening was on Valentine’s Day. D had made me the sweetest and most romantic Valentine ever and gave it to me that night. I melted and the rest is history!

I love you forever D!

finally

February 12, 2008

We finally were able to submit our I600 today!!! Woohoo! It has to fly to California and then to Vietnam so I am not sure how long it will take to actually submit it, but hey – it’s SOMETHING!!!!

baby shower

February 4, 2008

I don’t even know where to begin thanking my dear friend Sue and her wonderful daughters Peggy and Paula. They threw the most amazing baby shower for me on Saturday. I cannot get over the amount of work they went to for me! I don’t ever remember not knowing their family. We just sort of grew up with them. Peggy and Paula were adopted from Korea when they were very young and I don’t remember ever not understanding that they were adopted or more importantly, feeling one way or another about it. I think they were probably the reason that I was so automatically open to international adoption when the idea came up. It has been so wonderful for me to be able to ask Sue questions about the process and how it was for her. When she adopted it was not quite the trend that it is now! Our families are very similar and I think that is why we have always been so close.

Thank you so much to my friends and family for showing so much support. I can’t believe how generous you all were. I am completely overwhelmed!!! Thank you!!!

These are just SOME of the gifts we received. Can you believe it?

Here is the diaper cake that Peggy and Paula made for me – the thing was built like Fort Knox! I could hardly get it apart!

This is the little ipod nano that my brother C drove all the way over to my parent’s house early in the morning for my Mom to bring to the shower for P from him. He has already started working on her music collection. How awesome is that?

I didn’t get great pictures of the 30+ people at the shower or the beautiful edible fruit bouquet or the TON of food. I was so wrapped up in all the people that I totally forgot to take pictures. I think I will need to seriously improve on that before the girls get here!
